World Literature

World Literature, a course based on the Indiana Academic Standards for English/Language Arts, is a study of ancient and modern representative works by major authors from six continents: Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Students examine a wide variety of literary genres and themes. Students analyze how the ideas and concepts presented in the works are both interconnected and reflective of the cultures and historical periods of the countries represented by the authors.

Diploma

Fulfills an English/Language Arts requirement for the General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with Technical Honors diplomas

Requirements

Students must have access to a computer or tablet with high-speed internet access. All readings and instructional materials will be provided by the instructor.  Students must have the ability to annotate on PDF documents and email annotated documents to the instructor.  (Notability is the preferred application for both these functions.)

Final Exam

There will be no on-site final exam. The final exam for this course will be largely a summative writing assignment or multi-genre writing project.
